Cholera decreases in Accra but increases in Western Region of Ghana

Reports of new cases of cholera in Ghana are decreasing after more than 10,000 cases and 80 deaths were registered. However, in the Western Region, reports of cases have increased with 120 cases reported in the past 2 weeks. All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
