Cholera - Dominican Republic

Domican public health authorities have identified 21 cases of cholera in different areas of the country. Although 72 people were suspected of having cholera, only these cases were confirmed. It is not reported how many of these cases might be related to the epidemic of cholera in nearby Haiti.

Travellers should be aware that there are usually more infections with cholera in the population than the number confirmed by laboratory testing. While travelling in the Dominican Republic, travellers should be aware of the risk of exposure to Cholera.
