Cholera epidemic continues in Kenya

Over the past 4 months, there have been an estimated 5,000 cases of cholera in the current outbreak that has spread to 9 districts including the capital Nairobi. There have been 98 deaths.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once. Severe dehydration may occur very quickly.
