Cholera epidemic in Mupambe, Zambia, is expanding

Since the outbreak of typhoid fever began last month in Mupambe, the number of cases that have been treated for typhoid has increased to 2,094, of whom 119 were hospitalized. There have been 2 deaths.

Travellers to this area can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food or water cannot be avoided.
