Cholera expands in northern Malawi

In April, there were 9 people infected with cholera in Karonga District. This number has increased to 225 registered cases with 13 deaths. The lack of safe water supplies is the cause of the epidemic.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
