Cholera in Democratic Republic of the Congo causes deaths

Health officials had identified 7,306 cases and 404 deaths in four provinces - Bandundu, Equateur, Kinshasa and Orientale. An additional 9,357 cases and 77 deaths have been reported in four other provinces where cholera occurs regularly - Katanga, Maniema, North Kivu and South Kivu.

Travellers should be aware of the relatively high risk of exposure to cholera and take all necessary precautions to avoid consuming contaminated food and water.
