Cholera in Mexico (warning)

While there has only been limited spread of the cholera outbreak that started in Hidalgo state, travellers should be aware that there is still the chance that it could spread more widely. Travellers should be cautious and only consume safe water, for example, bottled water with intact seals, and canned drinks carbonated drinks. Do not consume drinks sold in cups or bags, or with ice. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
