Cholera in Tanzania

A cholera outbreak that began a few weeks ago in Dar es Salaam and spread to the Morogoro regions has resulted in 400 cases and 8 deaths. The source of this outbreak is still being investigated.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once. Severe dehydration may occur very quickly.
