Cholera increasing rapidly in Malawi

In Malawi, new cases of cholera are increasing rapidly. Last week there were 78 (same as previous week). A total of 329 cases have been confirmed since the outbreak began 8 weeks ago. The most affected districts include Chikwawa and Nsanje.

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
