Cholera is a risk in Tshopo Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo

There has been a surge in the number of reported cases of cholera in the past 2 months in Tshopo Province. A total of 306 infected people have been reported, and 16 of them have died. There may be many more unreported cases in the affected communities.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
