Cholera outbreak, Bolobo Region, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Another outbreak of cholera, this time in the western Bolobo region, has resulted in the deaths of at least 29 people. The total number of recorded cases now stands at 483. The population of the region obtains drinking water from the Congo River and when the water levels are low, contamination of the water supply occurs regularly.

Travellers to this region should be aware of the risk of exposure to cholera and avoid consuming unsafe food and water.
