Cholera outbreak continues to smolder in Mariupol, Ukraine

The cholera outbreak that began in May 2011 in the town of Mariupol, in Donetsk Region, continues to smolder. Health officials have confirmed the 24th case. As of today, five patients remain hospitalized in stable condition.

Travellers are reminded that local fish and fish products are thought to be the source of the infection. They should be aware of the risk of exposure to cholera and take all necessary precautions to avoid consuming contaminated food and water.
