A cholera outbreak is causing significant illness and death in 5 districts in Uganda's Eastern region.

  • Butaleja - 194 infections and 7 deaths
  • Namayingo - 114 cases and 6 deaths
  • Busia, Sironko, and Kibuku have registered an unknown number of cases.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
