Cholera outbreak in remote northeastern Nigeria

Health authorities have reported an outbreak of suspected cholera that has resulted in the deaths of 35 people in Mubi South and Maiha councils of Adamawa State. A total of approximately 200 cases have been reported. Laboratory confirmation is pending but access to this remote area is difficult.

Travellers to this area should be aware of the possible risk of exposure to what appears to be cholera and take all necessary precautions to avoid consuming unsafe food and water.
