Cholera outbreak on Thai-Myanmar border

An outbreak of cholera has occurred along the Thai-Myanmar border. At least 12 people have died and 61 are ill in the villages of Kawkareik and Kyain Seikgyi in Myanmar.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once. Severe dehydration may occur very quickly.
