Cholera outbreak reported in Benin

National health authorities have reported an outbreak of cholera involving 127 cases and 6 deaths in 5 different departments. The affected areas include Cotonou, Sô-Âva, Zè, Savalou and Dassa-Zoumé.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
