Cholera outbreak reported in Panjpai tehsil of Quetta District in Balochistan Province, Pakistan

There are reports of 5 deaths and 20 critically ill people due to an outbreak of cholera in Panjpai tehsil of Quetta District in Balochistan Province near the Afghan border. Two of the people who died were children. Medical care in the area is limited. Anyone who travels to this area can reduce the risk of exposure to cholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
