Cholera outbreaks reported in Africa and Asia

Cholera cases, deaths and outbreaks have been reported from the following places:


Guinea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cote d'Ivoire (Lagunes Region), Sierra Leone (Western area)


China (case imported from Bangladesh), Pakistan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province), Malaysia (Borneo), Nepal (Doti Region and Kathmandu District)

Travellers to these countries and areas can reduce the risk of exposure to cholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If visiting this area and gastrointestinal symptoms develop, e.g., vomiting and watery diarrhoae, seek medical care at once.
