Cholera remains a threat in South Sudan

Cholera has been and continues be a constant threat in the following 5 counties: Rubkona, Mayendit, Awerial, Bor, and Juba. The outbreak of cholera stated in June 2016, and has remained a consistent threat with people being continuously infected. To date, there have been 4,935 cases and 97 deaths due to cholera in South Sudan since June 2016.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
