Learn moreCholera remains an issue in South Sudan
A new outbreak of cholera was declared in April in South Sudan in addition to the cholera outbreak that was first declared June 2016. Since the outbreak in April started, at least 20 people have died in the state of Kapoeta bordering northern Kenya, and officials are reporting cases increasing everyday.
Advice
All travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
