Civil unrest in Bahrain

As a result of violent government repression of civilian demonstrations, large numbers of injured persons, some seriously, have overwhelmed the capacity of local hospitals. In addition, government forces have used the hospitals to identify civilian protesters for persecution.

Travellers to this country should be aware that the situation, although calm in the capital, remains volatile and that health care facilities may be unable to cope with health issues that occur in travellers.
