Clashes at the al-Aqsa complex in Jerusalem

Clashes occurred at the al-Aqsa complex. Security forces are positioned to provide security for Jewish worshipers visiting the site for the holiday of Sukkot. When a group of Palestinians were denied access to the holy site due to the Jewish holiday, clashes broke out at the Hatta and Council Gates. Today fresh clashes are ongoing between police and young Palestinians.

Travellers should be aware that for Muslims, the al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam, and for Jews, the site is the holiest site in Judaism. Clashes are known to occur at this location.
