Clashes continue at the al-Aqsa mosque compound in Israel

Clashes continued overnight and into a fourth consecutive day in East Jerusalem. In Silwan, Shufat, al-Eizariya, and Jabal al-Mukabbir neighbourhoods, Palestinian youths threw rocks and bottles at Israeli forces, who responded with tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades. Over 5,000 Israeli police officers were deployed in East Jerusalem's Old City today, expecting further unrest. Israeli forces closed all but four gates leading to the Al-Aqsa Mosque – the Lion, Hatta, Council and Chain Gates.
