Contaminated clover sprouts cause E.coli outbreak in Washington and Idaho, USA

Although final laboratory results are still pending, epidemiological investigation of an outbreak of E.coli infections involving 7 confirmed and 3 probable cases in 3 counties in 2 states (Spokane and King counties in Washington and Kootenai County in Idaho), has implicated contaminated raw clover sprouts. Five of the cases required hospitalization. The product was produced by Evergreen Fresh Sprouts of Moyie Springs, Idaho, and was served in restaurants.

Health authorities are advising the public to avoid eating raw clover sprouts from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts until further notice.
