Continued sporadic armed conflict in southern Philippines

Sporadic armed conflict in southern Philippines has resulted in the displacement of over 60,000 people. Recently, clashes over a possible land dispute between the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF - the breakaway group) has placed more families in danger near the town of Datu Saudi. Other affected areas include Maguindanao and North Cotabato provinces.

Travellers should always exercise caution and consider avoiding all travel in the contested areas in order to avoid being caught in a crossfire between armed groups.
