COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Sierra Leone (02 July Update)

Curfew Restrictions and Relaxations

  • The overnight curfew hours are from 23:00 to 06:00.

  • The State of Emergency is extended until March 2021.

  • The axrmy and police forces have been deployed to enforce restrictions.

Social Distancing Restrictions and Relaxations

  • Schools and universities remain closed.

  • The official working hours for all public and private sector businesses are from 09:00 to 16:00.

  • Retail trade is limited to essentials, such as groceries, water, medicine, and fuel.

  • Public gatherings exceeding 100 persons are not allowed.

  • Facemasks are mandatory in public places.

  • Mosques and churches remain closed.

Airline Restrictions

  • Lungi International Airport, also known as Freetown International Airport, is closed to all international passenger flights.

  • Chartered and special flights are allowed to operate from Free Town International Airport.

Border Restrictions

  • All air, land, and sea borders are closed.

  • International ports are only open for cargo.

  • Anyone arriving in Sierra Leone from countries having 50 or more confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 14-days will be quarantined for 14-days.

Transportation Restrictions

  • Inter-district travel restrictions have been lifted.

  • There are restrictions on numbers of passengers in public transportation.

The COVID-19 epidemic is changing constantly worldwide. This information is subject to change as the situation evolves. Travel and border restrictions may change with little or no notice.
