Advice For Travellers

Cutaneous leishmaniasis (the skin form of the disease) occurs in Libya, with occasional outbreaks due to failure of control measures. While the risk for the general traveller is low, in some areas where there is an outbreak, the risk may be high. Travellers to this region can reduce their risk of exposure to leishmaniasis by taking all necessary precautions to avoid sand fly bites.
