Dangerous E.coli food poisoning outbreak in Alberta Province, Canada

Health authorities have reported a widespread outbreak of infections with a bacteria called E. coli_ O157:H7 that can cause severe illness including cramping, bloody diarrhea, and kidney failure. So far, 122 cases have been identified across the province, but most of the cases have been reported from Calgary and Edmonton. While the exact source of the infections has not been identified yet, the majority of the cases reported eating in Asian-style restaurants.

Travellers who experience severe gastrointestinal symptoms after eating in Asian restaurants should seek medical care and inform public health authorities.
