Deadly armed conflict in Maidugun, Nigeria

After their military convoy was attacked by a bomb, Nigerian government forces returned fire killing at least 35 people in the northeastern city of Maidugun. Five of the dead wore military uniforms while the rest were dressed in civilian clothes. However, sometimes militants of the Boko Haram Islamist sect wear civilian clothes. Travellers should exercise caution and avoid travelling in this unsecured area of conflict.
