Deadly diarrhoea outbreak in Solomon Islands

Health authorities in the Solomon Islands have declared a nationwide health alert following reports of more than 1,000 cases of diarrhoea, including 16 deaths in young children, in the past 2 weeks. Rotavirus infection has been confirmed as the source of this outbreak. The outbreak has affected Guadalcanal, Western Province, Choiseul, Malaita, Central, and Makira.
