It is difficult to estimate the risk of exposure due to this virus in this locality since only 1 case has been reported. However, travellers to areas where this virus is circulating can minimize their risk of exposure to Japanese encephalitis virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Vaccination against Japanese encephalitis is recommended, especially if visiting rural areas where rice is grown.
