Deaths decrease but cases of malaria increase in Zambia

The National Malaria Control Centre (NMCC) reports that deaths due to malaria have decreased nationwide, but reported cases have been increasing in many areas of the country. In 2014, there were over 6 million reported malaria cases which represented only a portion of the total since reporting of cases is incomplete.

Any traveller to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
