Deaths due to malaria in New Delhi, India

For the first time in the past 5 years, deaths due to malaria have been recorded in India's capital city. In spite of treatment in hospital, 2 of the 19 registered cases in the city have died due to severe malaria.

Advice For Travellers

Even in the capital city in India, there is a risk of exposure to malaria, even for the general traveller. All persons travelling to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
