Demonstration Against Austrian Author in Stockholm - Sweden

The organizations of Srebrenica’s mothers and the federation for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s concentration camp prisoners have called for a demonstration on 10 December at Sergel’s Square and in the Kungsträdgården in Stockholm to protest against the Nobel committee’s selection of Austrian author, Peter Handke, as a Nobel Prize winner. The protests against the author have been raised because of his support for the genocidal regime of Slobodan Milošević.

Advice

Large gatherings, as well as increased police presence, are expected. Travellers should be cautious and also avoid any protest sites to minimize inconvenience and safety risks. Even events intended to be peaceful can escalate unexpectedly and quickly become violent.
