Demonstrations on 17 April 2018 in Ghana

The U.S. Embassy in Ghana has posted a notice that there will be ongoing demonstrations in Kumasi, Ghana. On Tuesday, 17 April, beginning about 07:00 and ending at noon, demonstrations are expected to take place around the Kumasi Central Market and the Aboabo neighbourhood.

On Wednesday, 18 April, demonstrations are expected to begin around 08:00 in the town center near Jubilee Park and the Central Market in Tamale, Ghana.

Advice

Always avoid demonstrations and large gatherings to minimize safety risk. Even events intended to be peaceful can unexpectedly and quickly escalate and become violent.
