Dengue and Japanese encephalitis infections diagnosed in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India

In the last 2 days, several people in the city of Jamshedpur have been diagnosed with Japanese encephalitis. Simultaneously, the number of dengue fever cases is also increasing.

Advice For Travellers

Both dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis viruses can cause serious illness. Travellers to areas where these viruses are circulating can reduce their risk of exposure to both viruses by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Vaccination against Japanese encephalitis is recommended, especially if visiting rural areas where rice is grown.
