Dengue epidemic declared in Ceará State, Brazil

State health officials have declared an epidemic of dengue fever in the state. The capital city of Fortaleza has recorded 27,618 cases. There have been 55 deaths across the state with 24 recorded in Fortaleza.

Travellers to this state should be aware of the risk of exposure to dengue and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
