Dengue fever cases and deaths continue to be widespread in multiple countries

Dengue fever cases and outbreaks have been reported in the following countries:

East Timor
Brazil (Alagoas State; Mato Grosso State; Paraiba State)
Paraguay (Asuncion metropolitan area)
Australia (Manunda, Queensland State)
Reunion Island
Maldives Islands

Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
