Dengue fever cases and deaths have been reported from the following countries:

Cambodia
Brazil (Parana State; Fortaleza/Ceara State; Alagoas State; Rio de Janeiro City and State; Rio Claro/São Paulo State; Cuiaba/Mato Grosso State)
Paraguay (Choco region)
Mexico (Quinatna Roo State; Cuernavaca/Morelos State)
Fiji
Malaysia
Pakistan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province)

Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
