Dengue fever cases, deaths and outbreaks have been reported from the following localities:

Thailand
Philippines (Negros Oriental; Kidapawan City, Kotabato Province)
Cambodia
India (Tamil Nadu State)
Sri Lanka
Ecuador
Paraguay
Brazil (Rio de Janeiro City and State; Fortaleza, Ceara State; Sergipe State)
New Caledonia
Reunion Island
Mayotte, Comoros Islands
Yemen (Hodeida City)

Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
