Dengue fever cases, deaths and outbreaks have been reported from the following countries in Asia:

Cambodia (34,483 dengue fever cases)

Thailand, Maha Sarakham Province

India, New Delhi area; Chandigarh and Harayana in Punjab States

Pakistan, Karachi, Sindh Province

Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
