Dengue fever cases, deaths and outbreaks have been reported from the following countries in the Americas:

USA, Dade County, Florida

Mexico, Guerrero, Jalisco, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, and Yucatan States

Costa Rica

El Salvador

Honduras, San Pedro Sula

Dominican Republic

Puerto Rico

Colombia, Sincelejo, Sucre Department

Venezuela

Paraguay

Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
