Cases*, deaths and outbreaks due to dengue fever have been reported in the following countries

Mexico

  • Yucatan: 5,043 cases

  • Morelos: 4,208 cases

  • Guerrero: 3,856 cases

  • Chiapas: 3,703 cases

  • Tabasco: 3,550 cases

  • Oaxaca: 2,199 cases

  • Campeche: 1,833 cases

  • Veracruz: 1,383 cases

  • San Luis Potosi: 1,166 cases

  • Tamaulipas: 1,461 cases

  • Jalisco: 475 cases

  • Sonora state: 546 cases

Honduras

  • National - approximately 15,000 cases; 2 deaths
  • Atlantida Department - 859 cases. Increasing trend

Puerto Rico

  • National - 11,465 cases; 6 deaths. Increasing trend

Peru

  • National - national total more than 22,000 cases; 38 deaths
  • Central Amazon region - Ucayali 3,500 cases; 11 deaths. Junin approximately 230 cases
  • Huanuco region - 211 cases. Increasing trend.
  • Lambayeque region - 832 cases
  • Loreto region - 3,603 cases; 1 death. Increasing trend
  • Pucallpa region - 3,500 cases; 11 deaths

Paraguay - national total 29,277 cases; 69 deaths

  • Cordillera Department - 1,912 cases; 1 death

Brazil

  • National - 565,510 cases; dengu haemorrhagic fever 3,774 cases; 247 deaths 247. Mosta affected states: Mato Grosso, Alagoas, Roraima, Tocantins, Piaui, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Sergipe, and Bahia.

Costa Rica - 16,258 cases.

Dominican Republic - 66,952 cases; 36 deaths

Ecuador - more than 14,000 cases; 21 deaths

El Salvador - 12,124 cases; 5 deaths

Panama - 904 cases

Venezuela - 42,146 cases;

Bolivia - 56 cases registered in the past weeks

*Note: Due to incomplete reporting, lack of access to health care in some areas, and the fact that many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and be reported to health authorities, there may be many more cases in the community than are reported. Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
