Dengue fever cases decreasing in Pune, Maharashtra, India

Although the number of cases of dengue fever appears to be decreasing in Pune in Maharashtra state, there have been 3 deaths due to this virus so far out of the 36 reported cases. There may be many more cases in the community than are reported due to incomplete reporting, lack of access to health care in some areas, and the fact that many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and be reported to health authorities. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
