Dengue fever cases double in Brazilian capital, Brasilia

In Brazil's Federal District, which includes the city of Brasilia, reported dengue fever cases increased from 1,937 cases to 4,339 cases in 1 month (mid-April to mid-May). The most affected municipalities in the District include Planaltina, Sobradinho II, Gama, Ceilândia and Taguatinga.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
