Dengue fever cases in Brazil (summary)

Cases, deaths and outbreaks continue to be reported from the following areas in Brazil
Mato Grosso - 38,774 reported cases with 89 cases of dengue haemorrhagic fever and 24 deaths. The most affected municipalities include Sinop, Rondonopolis, Cuiaba, and Varzea Grande.
Minas Gerais - 65,264 cases with 9 deaths. The city of Belo Horizonte has been heavily affected.

  • Londrina - 7,111 suspected and confirmed cases.

  • Maringa - 2,698 cases with 2 deaths.
    Rondônia - 10,775 cases with 5 cases of dengue haemorrhagic fever and 3 deaths. The most affected municipalities include Porto Velho, Espigao do Oeste, and Alvorada do Oeste.
    São Paulo

  • Riberão Preto - 12,966 cases with 4 deaths.

  • Sorocaba - 708 cases with 1 deaths.

There may be many more unreported cases since counting and reporting may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and many persons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
