Dengue fever cases in Taiwan pass 1,000 mark

Taiwanese health authorities have reported a total of 1,147 cases of dengue fever along with 7 deaths. Some of the cases have had the more serious form of the disease called dengue haemorrhagic fever. Tainan and Kaohsiung account for most of the cases. Travellers to the affected areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
