Dengue fever cases increasing quickly in Malaysia

Health officials warn that dengue fever cases have almost doubled compared to the month of January last year. So far, there have been 14,180 reported dengue fever cases nationwide. The most affected states include Selangor with 7,972 cases and 23 deaths, followed by Perak and Johor.

Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
