Dengue fever cases reported in central Florida, USA

Health officials have issued an alert for mosquito-borne dengue fever in central Florida's Martin and St. Lucie counties. There have been 7 confirmed cases. While dengue fever commonly occurs in the Caribbean, it is less common in this part of Florida. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
