Dengue fever continue to increase in multiple Indian states

Nationwide, there have been reports of 1,729 cases along with 10 possible deaths. The following states and districts continue to report increasing numbers of cases and deaths due to dengue:

  • Delhi (Rohini District)
  • Rajasthan (Jaipur)
  • Jharkhand (Ranchi)
  • Punjab (Patiala District)
  • Uttar Pradesh - The most affected municipalities include Lucknow, Kanpur and Bareilly. There may be many more unreported cases of dengue since counting and reporting cases may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and many persons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
